Special Programs
To improve the instructional program of the BED, special programs are conceived as part of the curriculum enhancement. Other than the academic standards that the students have to attain, they should know the utilization of their knowledge to the real life context.
Library Instruction
The Library Instruction Program is offered by the Learning Resource Center across grade levels from Grade 1 to Grade 12 students. It is a collaborative partner to the academic curriculum of the Basic Education Department. By employing a scaffolded approach, this program systematically builds students’ skills as they grow. It begins by cultivating basic library citizenship and a love for reading in the primary years (Grades 1 to 3), progresses to foundational research methods and organizational classification systems in intermediate levels (Grades 4 to 6), introduces media literacy and ethical research in Junior High School (Grades 7 to 10) , and culminates in sophisticated, independent academic inquiry and digital repository management in Senior High School (Grades 11 to 12). In one academic year, at least four sessions are held as embedded to the academic schedule of Reading Classes from Grades 1 to 8, English Classes of Grades 9 to 10 , Komunikasyon at Pananaliksik sa Wikang Filipino (1st Sem) and Research in Daily Life 1 (2nd Sem) for Grade 11 and Research in Daily Life 2 (1st Sem) and Research Project (2nd Sem) for Grade 12. This ensures that our graduates are not just successful students, but informed citizens and empowered, lifelong learners.
Homeroom Program
The Homeroom Program is one of the services offered by the guidance office, it is a venue for the deepening of the teacher-student relationship and personalized development assistance. It focuses on creating a supportive and inclusive environment where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally through collaborative activities and discussions. Key areas of focus include social-emotional learning, academic support, goal setting, and character and career development. Further, a regular homeroom period once a week provides an opportunity for a stronger connection between students and teachers, ensuring that individual concerns are addressed effectively. This nurturing classroom environment, will help enhance the students’ overall learning experience and promote academic success.
Enrichment Program
The Enrichment Program is designed for learners who demonstrate high academic performance, mastery of competencies, and readiness for advanced learning tasks as identified by teachers. It provides more challenging learning experiences to help students further develop their skills, talents, and potential beyond the regular curriculum.
Students may be included in the program based on consistently high performance in formative and summative assessments such as quizzes, unit tests, performance tasks, and other classroom activities; demonstrated mastery of the required learning competencies; ability to apply skills in advanced or unfamiliar situations; ability to complete tasks accurately and independently; critical thinking and problem-solving skills; active participation in class discussions; leadership and initiative; high-quality outputs; and curiosity and willingness to go beyond required tasks.
For the Elementary Level, it covers core subjects such as English, Filipino, Mathematics, Science, Araling Panlipunan/Makabansa, and other learning areas when necessary. For the Junior High School Level, it covers all learning areas including elective subjects.
The program includes enrichment activities such as advanced tasks, research work, creative outputs, ICT-based activities, and leadership opportunities. It may also include participation in monthly area celebrations and term-end culminating activities where students present their learning outputs.
Guided by Vincentian values, the program aims to develop learners’ higher-order thinking skills, creativity, independence, leadership, and sense of service.
Remedial Program
The Remedial Program is designed to help students who have difficulty understanding lessons and meeting the required learning competencies for their grade level. It provides additional support to help learners improve their performance and skills. Students included in this program are not under special education and do not have medical conditions affecting learning, but they may need more time and guidance to understand lessons.
Students may be identified for remediation based on consistent low scores in quizzes, tests, seatwork, performance tasks, and other classroom activities; difficulty meeting learning competencies; difficulty applying skills independently; incomplete or careless work; difficulty following instructions; low participation in class; and confusion even after discussion or review.
Students may be included in the program based on grades, assessment results, classwork, and teacher observation. Identification may be done before the end of each term or anytime during the school year when needed.
For the Elementary Level, the program covers core subjects such as English, Filipino, Mathematics, Science, Araling Panlipunan/Makabansa, and other learning areas when necessary. For the Junior High School Level, it covers all learning areas, including elective subjects, except Reading.
Remedial sessions may also be given to learners who were absent during the discussion of the lesson to help them catch up with missed topics and competencies.
Remedial sessions may be held after class or during regular class time depending on the schedule. These sessions are free of charge and aim to help students improve their learning, confidence, and academic performance.
Community Engagement and Services Program
The Community Engagement and Services Program provides students with opportunities to become aware of and respond to the needs of others, especially the poor and less privileged members of society. Inspired by the Vincentian spirit of service, the program aims to develop compassionate, responsible, and service-oriented students who are committed to helping their communities.
Through different community activities, students are encouraged to share their knowledge, skills, and time to make a positive difference in the lives of others. The program includes Computer Literacy Programs, Reading Literacy Activities, Community-Based Tutorial Sessions, Catechism and Faith Formation Activities, Jail Visitations for religious organizations, and Environmental Awareness Campaigns and other related activities like Tree Planting and initiatives on Zero-Waste Management.
These activities help students grow in faith, leadership, social responsibility, and care for the environment while strengthening the school’s partnership with the community.
Student Activity Program
The Student Activity Program is designed to complement the department’s curricular offerings through different activities that will enhance the learning environment of the learners. It aims to develop the person in the various aspects of his growth- physical, intellectual, social, cultural, moral, spiritual and personal.
The program is supplementary in nature and stimulates learning through student activities that enrich academic work. It provides opportunities for the students to develop their talents, skills and leadership while simultaneously developing personal and communal responsibility, self-reliance, wholesome interpersonal relationship, values and attitudes into a holistic, mature and fully functioning Filipino Christian Vincentian.
Clubs / Organization
Students from kinder to grade 3 are required to participate in one religious club, and one special interest club. As for Grades 4-10, students have the option to join at least one religious club and become a member of any academic and special interest club.
Co-curricular activities are planned and organized by the students through the different clubs and organizations which are moderated by teachers who are appointed on the basis of their area of specialization. A regular activity period is scheduled once a week. Clubs are categorized into three areas.
Religious Clubs – refer to the religious associations of the school. These include: Children of Mary Immaculate (COM), Young Luisas,Young Society of St. Vincent de Paul (YSSVP) and Vincentian Ministers of the Altar(VMOA) and Student catholic Action of the Philippines(SCAP)
Academic Clubs – refer to student organizations that are academic in nature. These include Cyber Cordian Club, Math Wizards’ Club, Science Club, English Enthusiasts and Speakers’ Circle Club, Yaman ng Lahi and Home Makers’ Club.
Special Interest Clubs – refer to organizations that cater to the varied interests of the students. These clubs are the Arts and Painting, Book Lovers, Boy Scouts of the Philippines, Choir, Dance Troupe, Girl Scouts of the Philippines, Green Thumb Environmentalists’ Club, Guitar, Journalism Club, Sports Club and Theatro.
